Kirtan

Kirtan is a type of mantra meditation, in which we sing different mantras in a call and response style. This means that myself (or whoever is leading the kirtan) sings a mantra, and then everyone else sings that same mantra back. However, at kirtan this is all completely optional - there is no pressure to sing, you can instead simply listen and enjoy the sound of the music and mantra.

Music has always been a big part of my life. I grew up playing guitar and singing with my Mum, I played in a few bands in my early 20's, and now I enjoy sharing music in the form of this kirtan practice. I play harmonium or guitar while leading a kirtan, or bass guitar if someone else is leading that particular practice.

I'd love the opportunity to bring more kirtan to our local communities, please contact me if you'd like me to host a kirtan or to collaborate on a kirtan offering in your yoga studio or community.
